When compared to paid software like Adobe Photoshop, Inkscape is. But for more advanced work, the interface needs to be upgraded. The Inkscape interface to me is simple and concise for basic graphics work. This is to be achieved without making the interface too complex. That is why major software companies spend a lot of time and resources to seeing that they come up with an interface that is friendly, enticing and complete. The feeling can either make you feel at home or completely throw you off balance. InterfaceĪn interface is a major deciding factor whether a user will continue to use a software or not. This is to say, with little hard disk space, you can run Inkscape. After installation, it occupies a space of about 375 MB. The installation process was fast and simple with no hitches. Almost everyone who uses a computer uses one of the platforms above.Įxecutable file size for installation is about 80 MB and is available in 90 languages. Inkscape is available on Windows, Linux, Mac OS, FreeBSD and Web-based. It is light and runs smoothly except in cases where I try to execute large or high-resolution images. I currently run mine on a 2.40 GHz processor with 8 GB of RAM. To successfully run Inkscape, the minimum requirement is 1 GHz processor and 256 MB of RAM. I used Inkscape version 0.92.3 released on for this review. I mostly use Inkscape to resize images and maintain still maintain the initial image quality I combine both when working for different purposes. I also have a limited license for Adobe Illustrator. Pay attention to the guide lines I set there.I have been using Inkscape to handle my vector graphics work. I use Relative to: Smallest Object here as example. Anchor buttons where 0.92.4 makes it fixed once, and 0.92.3 adds it every time I click the button. I cannot find any difference between 0.92.4 and 0.92.3 except for Align. Actually, this feature is available on 0.92.3 too. Precisely, it is a fix to make it better (more straightforward). You know, it is the pair of Align Relative To and Treat selection as group options. The official release notes said there is a new things on Objects Alignment (Ctrl+Shift+A) feature. On 18.04, Inkscape snap size is only 180MB, while Inkscape flatpak size is more than 350MB. Personally, I myself like Snap more than Flatpak as I am a heavy LiveCD user which is limited by RAM space. What you need to do is to install latest Inkscape 0.92.4 using respective tool you have. If you are using Ubuntu 16.04 or later, or if you are using Fedora 24 or later, you are already powered with Snap or Flatpak respectively. ![]() More information about Snap you can read on official website.įortunately, for all GNU/Linux distros, now Inkscape is available both in Snap and Flatpak formats. So you may see a little theme mismatch between original Ubuntu look-and-feel and the Inkscape running as Snap package. I am using 0.92.4 as Snap package and not Flatpak nor DEB package.
